Living the Questions
So, our Wednesday night group continues to move through the Living the Questions series, and to be challenged and stirred to discussion by the topics and speakers on the DVD series.
Last week we talked about God's inclusive welcome in "A Kingdom Without Walls." A quote from Stephen Patterson in the DVD: "There's a lot to be said for homogeneity... but Jesus has another vision for the empire of God, for our communities of faith, for our church. Being the body of Christ means being in a place you're not supposed to be, doing things that you're not supposed to do, being a weed in the midst of a garden that doesn't want a weed. Sometimes it means attracting unwanted guests - the unclean, the unwanted, the uncherished of the world that God longs for us to draw unto ourselves and shelter." There was quite the discussion flowing in the room - hard to stop talking!
You're always welcome to join us, even if you haven't been before. The remaining dates are (tonight) April 27, (then we take a break for Rummage Sale!), May 18, May 25, and June 1.

Faithtastic Fun Nights
A new fellowship group has officially begun in our congregation, with the shepherding of our new Youth and Family Ministries Director, Love B. Last Friday night we gathered for the FIRST Faithtastic Fun Night with kids and adults of all ages for hot dogs and veggie dogs, and a MASSIVE pile of popcorn, to watch the Lion King. Love had a trivia game ready, animal toys for little kids to play with, and a decorated viewing area- you could sit in "Pride Rock," "The Jungle," or "The Elephant's Graveyard." Our church's new projector on the huge new screen and hooked up to the big speakers really made for a surround sound, movie theater experience!!!
Love gave us a reflection about the central theme of Lion King: "Remember who you are" and reminded us that as Christians, we're invited to remember who we are - children of God!! Maybe the best part was the chance to kick back and hang out with each other - no one had to run off to a meeting! I can't WAIT for the next Faithtastic Fun Night - Banana Night is coming May 27 - get ready to go bananas!
