Easter Sunrise

Easter sunrise has always been one of my favorite worship services of the year. We have been waiting since Friday, since we heard the words - "Jesus gave a loud cry and breathed his last." We have been waiting since last Sunday, when the tension built with Jesus' entry into Jerusalem. We have been waiting since the beginning of Lent - the long weeks since the ashes called us to turn again towards God. We have been waiting since Christmas, since the Christ child was born. We have been waiting since we were born, waiting to taste and hear the good news, the greatest news.
I'm obviously impatient and can't wait well, since several times this week I found myself saying "Alleluia" when something would go right, and then remembering that it's not yet time - the A-word is supposed to wait until Sunday. But Sunday will come.
See you tomorrow for Easter worship, either at sunrise or back in our sanctuary at 10 a.m. The time is almost here.
